Islamabad, Pakistan – In a significant gesture of environmental stewardship and bilateral friendship, H.E. Dr. Ramez Alraee, the Syrian Ambassador to Pakistan, participated in a tree plantation drive at Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU). The event underscored the importance of sustainability and collective action in combating climate change, which has been a growing concern for Pakistan.
During his address, Ambassador Alraee emphasized the profound significance of tree planting, describing it as a simple yet powerful act that embodies hope for future generations. He highlighted that tree plantation is not only a form of ongoing charity (Sadqa e Jariya) but also a crucial step in mitigating the impacts of climate change, such as floods and other environmental disasters that Pakistan has been facing with increasing severity.
The Syrian envoy praised QAU for its role as a center of learning and leadership, urging the students to take an active part in environmental conservation. “You are the future leaders of this beautiful country,” he said. “Your actions today, for sustainability, for climate, and for the earth, will define the world we all live in tomorrow.”
Ambassador Alraee expressed his pride in joining hands with the university community to promote green initiatives, symbolizing the strong bond of friendship between Syria and Pakistan. The tree planted during the event was described as a symbol of this friendship and a shared commitment to a cleaner, greener, and more peaceful world.
The event concluded with the Ambassador expressing gratitude to the university for the opportunity to participate in this meaningful initiative, hoping that it would inspire students to plant many more trees in their localities. This gesture reflects the enduring partnership between the two nations in addressing global challenges and fostering a sustainable future.
