The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne (Rtd.), paid a courtesy call on Archbishop Germano Penemote, Apostolic Nuncio (Ambassador) of the Holy See to Pakistan on 16.01.2026.
During the discussion, the High Commissioner briefed the Apostolic Nuncio on the current political developments in Sri Lanka under the leadership of H.E. the President, including the Government’s efforts to foster social cohesion among Sri Lanka’s diverse communities who continue to live in harmony with mutual respect.
He also outlined the recent challenges faced by Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the Ditva cyclone, and highlighted the invaluable support extended by the international community towards the country’s recovery and rebuilding efforts.
Archbishop Germano Penemote, while commending Sri Lanka’s resilience and determination during difficult times, recalled his appreciation for the long-standing cooperation between the Holy See and Sri Lanka, including his close engagements with His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.
The High Commissioner was accompanied by A. Christy Ruban, Minister and Chathurika Sankapali, Minister Counsellor of the High Commission.
