Jakarta, Clear Skies Magazine: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto announced that he held talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in defense, energy, and the creative economy, as Jakarta moves to deepen engagement with key European partners.
According to a statement from Indonesia’s Government Communications Office, President Prabowo said the meeting took place at the Élysée Palace on April 14, where both leaders explored opportunities to expand collaboration across priority sectors of mutual interest.
The discussions covered a wide range of areas, including defense procurement and the strengthening of defense industries, energy transition and renewable energy development, infrastructure and transportation, as well as education and the creative economy. President Prabowo emphasized that these sectors hold significant potential for enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation.
He underscored that Indonesia views France as a key strategic partner in Europe, highlighting Jakarta’s commitment to fostering sustainable and long-term bilateral ties. “As an important partner in Europe, Indonesia continues to promote sustainable cooperation with France to open new, concrete and mutually beneficial opportunities for both countries,” he stated.
During the official engagement at the Élysée Palace, President Prabowo was accorded a ceremonial welcome, including a guard of honor and a military band, while President Macron personally received him upon arrival.
President Prabowo arrived in Paris late on April 13 following a series of diplomatic engagements in Moscow, where he held extensive talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.
The Paris visit marks a continuation of Indonesia’s proactive diplomatic outreach in Europe, reflecting its broader strategy to strengthen international partnerships and advance cooperation in key economic and strategic sectors.
