Ali Bahraini, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, has strongly condemned Israel’s recent military aggression against Qatar, warning that unchecked expansionism could spread like a “cancerous tumor” and jeopardize the security of the entire region.

Speaking at an emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council on Tuesday, Bahraini described the Israeli assault as a grave threat to international peace and security.

“This aggression sends a clear message—not just about a regime with a record of systematic genocide and repeated acts of aggression, but as a serious warning to all of us,” he stated. “Our inaction and failure to uphold legal and moral principles have allowed a sinister entity to undermine global order and security.”

The Iranian envoy further asserted that Israel, which he described as an apartheid regime, “does not adhere to international law, does not respect the principles of civilized nations, and does not believe in negotiation, peace, or stability.” He noted that the two-week halt in Israeli operations occurred only after intervention by Iran’s armed forces, stressing that decisive international action is needed to prevent further escalation.

“If the international community does not respond, Israel’s aggression and expansionism will continue unabated, spreading like a cancer and threatening all countries in the region,” Bahraini warned. “We must protect our people and humanity by any means necessary.”

Reaffirming Iran’s position, he expressed full solidarity with the government and people of Qatar and voiced support for initiatives aimed at holding Israel accountable for its actions.

The emergency session of the UN Human Rights Council was convened at the request of Qatar and a group of Islamic countries in response to Israel’s military attack on Qatari territory on September 9.
