Jordan’s King Abdullah II Discusses Regional De-escalation with UK Security Adviser

Amman, Clear Skies Magazine: King Abdullah II of Jordan received the United Kingdom’s National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell at Al Husseiniya Palace on Wednesday, with discussions focusing on regional developments, efforts to reduce tensions and bilateral relations.

According to a statement from the Royal Court, King Abdullah stressed the need to intensify international efforts to achieve comprehensive regional de-escalation that guarantees the security of Arab states and contributes to restoring stability across the region.

The King also underscored the importance of ending what he described as Israel’s dangerous violations in the West Bank and Jerusalem, stressing the need to support Lebanon and Syria in safeguarding their security, stability and sovereignty.

The meeting also addressed the longstanding relations between Jordan and the United Kingdom and ways to further strengthen cooperation and coordination between the two countries.

The discussions come amid continued regional efforts to address security challenges and promote stability across the Middle East.
