Russian Ambassador Hosts Pakistani, Indonesian Students to Discuss Russia–Pakistan Relations

Islamabad, Clear Skies Magazine: Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev hosted an informal tea discussion on August 6 with Pakistani and Indonesian students representing CAPS PAK and several leading Pakistani universities, providing an opportunity to exchange views on Russia, its history and foreign policy.

The participating students included representatives from the Department of International Relations at National Defence University (NDU) Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam University, the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), and Lahore College for Women University.

Ambassador Khorev welcomed the students’ strong interest in Russia and their engagement with issues related to the country’s history, foreign policy and international relations.

During the interactive session, the participants raised questions concerning the history and future prospects of Russia–Pakistan relations, educational opportunities available to Pakistani students in Russia, and developments in the Middle East and South Asia.

In response, Ambassador Khorev emphasized the traditionally friendly nature of relations between Russia and Pakistan and highlighted the constructive cooperation between the two countries within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

The ambassador also appreciated Pakistan’s mediation efforts aimed at contributing to the resolution of the conflict in the Middle East, underscoring the importance of diplomatic initiatives and dialogue in addressing regional challenges.

The discussion provided a platform for students to engage directly with the Russian ambassador and gain greater insight into bilateral relations, educational opportunities and broader regional and international developments.
