Tajikistan, COMSTECH Reaffirm Commitment to Expanding Scientific and Technological Cooperation

Islamabad, Clear Skies Magazine: On July 29, 2026 Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Yusuf Sharifzoda, held a meeting with Coordinator General of the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMSTECH), Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the current state of cooperation between Tajikistan and COMSTECH within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and explored future opportunities for collaboration. They exchanged views on expanding partnerships in science, technology, innovation, education, scientific research, and the development of highly qualified professionals.

Ambassador Sharifzoda reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with COMSTECH, emphasizing that the advancement of science, technology, and innovation remains one of the key priorities of the country’s national development policy. He noted that stronger collaboration in these sectors would contribute significantly to the sustainable development of OIC member states.

Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, in turn, expressed COMSTECH’s readiness to broaden cooperation with Tajikistan and praised the country’s growing scientific and educational capabilities. He highlighted the importance of joint scientific research programmes, researcher and student exchange initiatives, professional training courses, seminars, and international conferences to strengthen scientific and technological capacities across OIC member countries.

The meeting also underscored the effective use of COMSTECH’s institutional resources to promote innovation and scientific excellence among OIC members.

At the conclusion of the discussions, both sides expressed satisfaction with the friendly and constructive relations between Tajikistan and COMSTECH and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further enhancing cooperation in science, technology, innovation, education, and research for the mutual benefit of OIC member states.
