Seema Pahwa recently sat for a candid conversation with Bollywood Thikana. During the chat, the actress argued how the industry had turned into a commercialised space controlled by businessmen. She added that these changes had left little respect or acknowledgement for creative people. Seema further explained how it has changed her narrative in the film industry and hinted at the possibility of quitting due to the lack of creative work. She was quoted as saying:
“Mujh lag raha hai bahi jaldi namaste karni padege film industry ki. The condition is very bad of the industry and in a way they have murdered creative people in the industry. It has been completely taken over by businessmen. They want to keep this industry alive with their business mind. I don’t think, we who have worked for so many years in the industry, can sustain this mindset.”
In the same conversation, Seema expressed how the film industry has put artistic values on the back burner. She further shared how filmmakers prioritise casting stars to ensure their profits. She added that their opinions are met with rigidity and explained how, when they share something, they are told that their thought process is extremely outdated. She was quoted as saying:
“I understand they want to earn money and that’s why maybe they don’t need people like us. They calls us purane log and tell us, ‘Your thought process is very old!’ They argue with us that an actor makes a film work.
According to them only commercial things make a film work.”
