Ukraine Embassy Islamabad Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Independence with National Music & Art – Craft

Ambassador of Ukraine to Pakistan Mr. Markian Chuchuk has said that bilateral relations are flourishing in different spheres of life. Pakistan is one of the biggest trade partners of Ukraine. We value our friendship with Pakistan that is based on trust and warmth on both sides. He stated this addressing the participants of Ukrainian Cultural event in connection with 30th Anniversary of Independence of Ukraine held today 02 Sep 2021at Pakistan National Council of Arts Islamabad.

The Ambassador emphasized that independence was not a gift to Ukraine of fate, it was depressed by many generations of Ukrainians.

On behalf of the PNKR guests of the event were congratulated by the Administrative Director of Council A. Jamali, he stressed the friendly nature of bilateral relations and the like of Ukrainian and Pakistani culture.

Ambassador Markian Chuchuk and Ayub Jamali made a gift exchange. The participants of the event were invited to the screening of a documentary about Ukraine.

Then there was a cultural program with the performance of famous Ukrainian songs (′′ Khurtovina “, ′′ Oh, in the cherry garden “, ′′ You deceived me!”, ′′ Red Ruta ′′) and a demonstration of national clothes. An exhibition of Ukrainian decorative and applied art was also organized.

Interesting thing was the dresses and crafts were prepared by Ukrainian ladies staff of the Embassy and Ukrainian women living in Pakistan after marriage with Pakistanis. Their children also participated in the event.

Ukrainian musical performance was the most appealing item that enchanted the participants.   Pakistani folk music was also part of the event that made the event more colorful.

Ms Olena Bordilovska, Diplomat of the Embassy shared the cultural traditions of her country. She said that “We, Ukrainians, are like this… We will always find an opportunity to show ourselves and celebrate. And sing ′′ Red Ruta “.

Defence Attache Embassy of Ukraine sang popular national songs of his country and played Guitar as well to the amusement of the audience.

Ukrainian women held stalls of national dresses, crafts and art. A large number of citizens, representatives of civil society , diplomats of other countries, businessman community , women entrepreneurs and media people were present at this occasion.

Alghoza player Ustad Akbar Khamiso Khan performed at the event. He is the youngest son of Ustad Khamiso Khan, who is one of the greatest alghoza players in recorded history. He learnt the instrument from his father and made his first professional performance at the Radio Pakistan Show when he was 20. After radio, he went on to perform for television and then for growing live audiences both in Pakistan and abroad. He is one of the most important alghoza players currently practicing.

The event was arranged with observation of COVID-19 SoPs.
