Dear compatriots,
Today is a historic and memorable day for the Republic of Tajikistan and for the peace-loving peoples of the world.
Yesterday, a new initiative of Tajikistan «International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations, 2027–2036» was adopted by the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly.
On this historic occasion, I sincerely congratulate the peace-loving people of our country.
I also express my deep gratitude to all friendly states, partners, and international organizations that supported Tajikistan’s proposal and contributed to the adoption of this important resolution by the United Nations General Assembly.
This resolution highlights the necessity of promoting a culture of peace, preventing conflicts, enhancing tolerance, mutual understanding, and expanding dialogue amongst civilizations around the world as a foundation for a dignified life for future generations.
This document also calls upon all states to exert efforts to achieve lasting peace and to strengthen it at all levels—from family, society, country, and region to international relations.
In this regard, we must primarily explain to adolescents and youth, who are the architects of future peace, that peace is not merely the absence of war.
Peace is a culture.
Peace is responsibility.
Peace is respect for human dignity and honor.
Peace is ensuring justice and equal opportunities for all humanity.
Therefore, the fate of future generations depends on the decisions we make today.
We are obliged to leave a legacy of a world in which future generations of humanity can live, develop, and cooperate in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
Thus, we believe that any global problem can be resolved only through constructive dialogue and cooperation.
Dear compatriots,
For Tajikistan, peace is not merely an issue on the international agenda.
The Tajik people, throughout their millennia-old history as heirs of Aryan civilization, have preserved and honored values such as peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and dialogue with other civilizations.
It is worth mentioning that in the early years of our independence, despite possessing such great historical values, our country was drawn into the turmoil of an imposed civil war.
This war inflicted devastating damage on the economy, social sphere, and overall development of our state.
However, thanks to the national wisdom and peace-loving culture of our people, we managed to emerge from the abyss of war and embark on the process of modern state-building.
As a result of great efforts, peace and tranquility, political stability, and national unity were restored in our country, which became the foundation for further development of the state.
In other words, the peace and tranquility, as well as the full political stability that prevail in our country today, were not achieved easily.
Progress in all spheres of the national economy, science and education, healthcare and culture, as well as the preservation of historical and cultural heritage, alongside an active role in addressing global issues including international water agenda and glacier protection, are achievements made possible by peace and stability.
It should be emphasized that the source of our progress and initiatives are the values and centuries-old traditions of peaceful coexistence that have formed in Tajik society since ancient times.
Our land, located at the crossroads of various cultures, languages, and traditions, over time has become a crossroads of peaceful coexistence and cooperation, tolerance, and respectful attitude toward each other’s language, culture, and customs.
It is precisely this rich cultural heritage, formed within the Aryan civilization, that today creates a solid foundation for promoting Tajikistan’s peace initiatives at the international level.
In this regard, last year at the UNESCO General Conference at the initiative of Tajikistan and with the support of like-minded states the resolution «Cyrus Cylinder: an early charter of human rights and cultural diversity» was adopted, which testifies to the deep historical roots of the values of peace, mutual understanding, and harmony in the ancient civilization of our ancestors.
It is evident that the Tajiks, as a nation of culture, as well as other Persian-speaking peoples, have made a substantial contribution to the development of science, enlightenment, and world civilization.
The founders of this invaluable treasury were scholars, philosophers, poets, writers, and thinkers whose unique and unparalleled heritage remains one of the driving forces of the development of science and culture of humanity.
Dear compatriots,
At these memorable moments, we are also approaching another holiday—the Day of National Unity, which is one of the greatest achievements of the Tajik people during the period of state independence.
I sincerely congratulate the entire glorious people of Tajikistan and our compatriots abroad on this occasion.
This year, the Day of National Unity — which symbolizes the victory of peace and tranquility, political stability, and guarantees unprecedented development of our country — is celebrated during the preparation for the great and sacred holiday, i.e. the 35th Anniversary of State Independence.
The Day of National Unity in the recent history of Tajik statehood is truly a fateful date of cohesion and unification of the Tajik people, as well as the achievement of lasting peace and stability.
We—the people of Tajikistan—realized the invaluable worth of peace, stability, unity, and mutual understanding when we experienced a period of acute political contradictions and an imposed civil war.
That is why our people will never forget the horrors and tragic consequences of the imposed civil war of the early 1990s.
It should be noted that the first stone in the foundation of peace and national unity was laid at the historic and fateful 16th Session of the Supreme Council of the country.
Thanks to peace and tranquility, political stability, and national unity, a stable foundation was created in our country for preserving State Independence and territorial integrity of an independent Tajikistan.
National unity, which is the fundamental idea of our young state, represents the main condition for the peace and well-being of the glorious people of the country, the most important factor for the development of society and the implementation of all our constructive plans and measures.
Today, we strive to build a qualitatively new society that meets the demands of the era of progress and transformations, which will allow the Tajik people and the Tajik state to keep pace with developed civilized countries of the world and move forward.
We must give primary and constant attention to raising the level of education in society, especially among adolescents and youth, studying modern techniques and technologies, digitalization, artificial intelligence, as well as training highly qualified specialists who meet modern requirements.
In this process, it is always necessary to remember an important point: raising the level of knowledge and enlightenment of society members is the most important way to prevent ignorance and fanaticism, strengthen security and stability, and ensure progress and development of the state.
To achieve these noble goals, what we need most is peace and security, unity and mutual understanding, cohesion and harmony.
In this regard, I emphasize that especially in the conditions of a contradictory and rapidly changing modern world, stability, mutual understanding, and national solidarity are of paramount importance.
The United Nations General Assembly resolution «International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations, 2027–2036» obliges us to look to the future with greater responsibility.
Our task is to pass on to the younger generation the values of peace, tolerance, culture of dialogue, and respect for diversity as a legacy.
Only in this case can we build a society in which lasting peace and stability, security, and human well-being will be ensured for many years to come.
We intend next year, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of National Unity Day, to hold in Dushanbe, in cooperation with the United Nations and partner states, a high-level international conference to launch the implementation of the «International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036).»
I confidently declare that the glorious people of Tajikistan will continue to highly value peace, stability, and national unity and will make even greater efforts to preserve this priceless heritage, on which the realization of good intentions and aspirations of every member of society depends.
With hope for a bright and peaceful future of beloved Tajikistan, I once again sincerely congratulate all of you, dear compatriots and our citizens abroad, on the occasion of the adoption of the United Nations General Assembly Resolution «International Decade of Strengthening of Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036),» and the blessed holiday of National Unity Day.
I wish each of you good health, happiness, prosperity, and a peaceful, dignified life.
May this resolution, as an important international document, contribute to strengthening friendship and cooperation among peoples, expanding the culture of peace, and building a safe and peaceful world for present and future generations!
May peace and tranquility always reign on earth, and may the future of humanity be based on the principles of justice, mutual understanding, and cooperation!
May the recognition by the world community of the peace-loving initiative of the independent Tajik state and National Unity Day be blessed, dear compatriots!
